The Juno EMR schedule allows you to indicate the phase in which an appointment exists in its life cycle. Is the appointment still some time in the future? Has the patient arrived? Is the patient waiting in an empty room? Perhaps you’d like to indicate which room directly on the schedule itself? Has the provider billed for that appointment? Or did the patient simply not appear for their appointment, a no-show? Each of these things and more can be indicated using an Appointment Statuses.

On the left-hand side of each appointment in your schedule, you will notice a small icon. By default, a new appointment icon will appear as a closed folder. This icon indicates the appointment status for that appointment. Clicking the icon will cycle the appointment through to the next status.

You can also set an appointment’s status as you are creating a new appointment, or in the pop-up modal for modifying appointments. Appointment statuses can be viewed by clicking the drop-down in the top right-hand corner of the new or modify appointment modals, as below:

By default, Juno EMR will provide the following appointment statuses:

  1. To Do

  2. Daysheet Printed

  3. Here

  4. Picked

  5. No Show

  6. Canceled

  7. Billed

  8. 5 Customizable Options

'To Do', 'No Show', 'Canceled' and 'Billed' are the four statuses whose names cannot be edited. All other statuses can be updated. Those four specific statuses cannot be renamed because EMR functionality is built around them (though you can adjust their colors and symbols if you like). The five customizable options are available to make whatever specific statuses you might need, and if you require additional statuses we would be happy to add more to your system.

To adjust an appointment statuses:

  1. Click “Admin.”

  2. From the left-hand menu in the Administration Panel, click “Schedule Management.”

  3. From the menu that appears below, click “Appointment Status Setting.” A new panel will open to the right.

  4. Click the “Edit” link in-line with the appointment status that you would like to change. This will open a panel similar to the one below:

  5. Give your status a description. This is the name that will appear in the drop-down, or when hovering over the icon in the schedule.

  6. Select an Icon from the drop-down. A preview of the icon will appear to the right.

  7. Select whether or not this appointment status should be active. Inactive statuses will not appear in the drop-down or when cycling through appointment statuses.

  8. Select a color or colors. There are color-picker options for both the classic user interface and the Juno user interface. To make both the same, you can copy and paste one of the codes starting with # from one of the boxes to the other, and then clicking somewhere outside the text field. You can select a pre-made color from the palette to the right, or specific colors using the color wheels and hash-codes.

  9. Click “Update Status.”

If appointments already exist with that status, you will see the changes reflected in your schedule immediately. If the status is a new appointment status, you may want to test it using a fake appointment and make adjustments.
