Once a Consultation request has been created, it can be tracked using the ‘Consultations’ tabs of you Juno EMR located at the top of the screen (all patients) or in individual patient charts (specific patient). The Consultations Tab
You will find all your active consultations requests - requests that have not been marked as completed yet - in the Consultations tab. To access it, click on ‘Consultations’ at the top of the screen. If you are using a smaller screen, the ‘Consultations’ option may be located under the ‘More’ menu. Simply click on ‘More’, then click on ‘Consultations’ to access the Consultations tab. The Consultations page will look like this:
- Referral Start/End Date; Appointment Start/End Date – Use these date fields to filter results by dates. The referral date is the date the consultation request was written while the appointment date is the date of the appointment with the specialist as entered on the consultation request page itself.
- Consultation Status – By default, you will be looking at all active consultations. This includes consultation requests with the following statuses: Not Complete, Preliminary Pending Specialist, Pending Callback and Appointment Booked. Use the status drop down menu to select a specific status to filter your consultations on.
- Team – If your organization has multiple smaller teams to whom consultation requests are assigned, use the team drop down to select the team you want to view requests for.
- Patient – Type in the patient’s last name and select them from the available results to filter consultations to a specific patient. This can also be done by navigating to the Consultations tab of their record.
- MRP – Use this field to filter consultation requests using the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) assigned to the patient record.
- Buttons –
- Search – Once you select your desired filters using the fields above, click on the ‘Search’ button to run the search.
- Clear – Clears existing filters.
- New Consultation Request – Create a new consultation request. Can only be clicked if a patient has been entered in the ‘Patient’ field.
- Edit Specialists Listing – Access the specialist management section. For more information on managing your specialists, consult our guide here.
- Headers – Click on the headers to order consultation requests based on that specific column.
- Entries per page – Use the selector at the bottom to determine how many consultation requests to include on each page.
By using the Consultations tab, you can easily monitor the status of your existing requests including when they were last followed-up on and their specialist appointment dates. This, however, relies on you or a staff member keeping the requests updated. You will find more information on how to do that below.
Keeping Track of Your Consultation Requests Status
Keeping track of where your consultation requests are at using the consultations tab is simple if the information you need to do so is recorded in each consultation request. To update the status of a request or information such as the last follow-up date, click on the ‘Edit’ button located on the far left in the Consultations tab. This will take you over to the consultation request edit page which looks like this (the bottom of the page is cut off in this screenshot):
i. Consultation Status – This drop down allows you to select the consultation status from a list of pre-defined statuses. Select the appropriate status before saving the consultation to update it in the Consultations tab.
- Not Complete
- Preliminary Pending Specialist
- Pending Callback
- Completed
- Cancelled
- Appointment Booked
- Deleted
j. Last Follow-up Date – Type in or select the last follow-up date within this page, then save the changes to the consultation for this date to display on the Consultations tab.
k. Appointment Date / Appointment Time – Once you receive the details regarding the appointment, add them to the consultation request to be able to easily keep track of them. Make sure you save your consultation request after adding the date and time!
l. Appointment Notes – This field is for internal use. These are notes that are relevant for you and your clinic to have on file. These will not be printed of faxes with the request. Add the desired details, then save your consultation request to ensure the information is successfully recorded in your EMR.
