Being able to keep track of the evolution of blood work results over time is an important part of caring for your patients. While looking at one or two past report(s) is manageable, it is not an efficient way to get an overview of results over an extended period. This article will introduce you to different tools you can use to monitor past eDelivered reports results quickly and efficiently.

Detail Results View

The Detail Results view is accessible from all non-PDF eDelivered reports. Open the report from either the patient’s record or the inbox. From there, click on the name of the test on the left-hand side.

This will open the Detail Results view, which will allow you to see a list of all results associated with that specific result type. It will look like this:

You can review historical results immediately using the table. Numeric results can also be plotted into a graph by clicking on the ‘Plot’ button located towards the bottom left of the Detail Results. The plotted results will look like this:

In my example above, the WBC result is plotted using a red square while the normal reference range is identified with a blue line. Multiple results would produce a graph that can be seen overtime.

You can compare results with prescribed medication(s) by selecting the medications in the bottom section, then clicking on the ‘Add Meds to Graph’ button. This will give you a time comparison on when a patient was on a specific medication in comparison to their report results.

Note: The results do not match on test name, but on test type as defined by the reporting organization. Results coming in from different reporting organizations may not appear under the same Detail Results view. Changes in testing protocols, or in the type of test ordered may also impact which results are displayed on this view.

Grid Display (Classic UI Only)

The Grid Display is accessed from the patient’s Classic eChart. In the eChart, hover your cursor over the ‘+’ symbol on the ‘Lab Result’ header on the left of the eChart, then click on the ‘Grid Display’ option. The Grid Display looks like this:

You will find the result name on the left followed by the latest result value and date the last test was performed. The following columns will show results for each laboratory report received, per date. Clicking on the date at the top of the column will open the full lab report.

The list of results included in the Grid Display is not customizable by the clinic. You can, however, use the Row Display to view historical results for reports that are specific to this patient’s needs. See below for more details.

Row Display (Classic UI Only)

The Row Display is accessed from the patient’s Classic eChart. In the eChart, hover your cursor over the ‘+’ symbol on the ‘Lab Result’ header on the left of the eChart, then click on the ‘Row Display’ option. The Row Display looks like this:

To add results to the Row Display, select the lab name on the left-hand side. The lab and its matching results will be added to the right section, allowing you to review historical results for the selected labs.
