An LFP Locum is a physician who substitutes on a temporary basis for an LFP Host Physician
who is enrolled in the LFP Payment Model and having another physician substitute for them
on a temporary basis while they are away from their practice.
An LFP Locum must only bill under the LFP Payment Model when providing LFP Locum
Services for an LFP Host Physician who is away from their practice. LFP Locum Services
means LFP Practice Services, Non-panel Services, and Maternity Services provided by an LFP
Locum.
An LFP Locum bills Locum Time Codes and Locum Patient Interaction Codes and must not bill
the Time Codes or Patient Interaction Codes. They do not receive a panel payment.
The terms “LFP Host Physician,” “LFP Locum,” “LFP Locum Service,” “LFP Practice Service”,
“Maternity Service” and “Non-panel Service” are defined in Appendix A [Definitions].
For clarity, a physician who is enrolled under the LFP Payment Model and providing
Community Longitudinal Family Physician Services may also provide LFP Locum Services.
When they provide LFP Locum Services, they must bill Locum Time Codes and Locum Patient
Interaction Codes.
