The Alberta billing cycle is weekly and the official cutoff date is every Thursday at 4:00 PM. At ClinicAid, we batch and send invoices hourly. Due to large volumes of claim submissions on Thursdays, AHS H-Link recommends submitting earlier in the week to ensure your claims are paid on time. Claims that are sent before cut-off are assessed over the weekend and a remittance file is returned to ClinicAid generally by Sunday evening. Claims are then updated in ClinicAid automatically and are generally updated by Monday morning.
Payments to physicians are made the following Friday after claims have been assessed (one week after cut-off).
Yearly, Alberta Health will take time off around Christmas, they will always send out a Bulletin with the holiday schedule, however you can always expect 2-3 weeks where invoices aren't processed and payments are not sent out until the new year.
