If on your Statement of Assessment you see an "APLY" code, it means that the claim has been processed and assessment is completed. The claim may be paid in full, paid at a reduce rate or paid at "zero". When a claim is paid at "zero" is does not mean that the claim has been refused. It means that even though a valid service was provided, the assessment has determined that the payment is not allowable.

If you disagree with the reason why the claim was paid at zero, you will need to resubmit the claim with the code C(change) or (reassess). ClinicAid will send the claim back with the corresponding code automatically, so there is no need for you to enter the C or R manually.

To make a "Change" to your claim:

When you are viewing your invoice, click on the blue "Edit" button.

How Do I Change or Reassess an Invoice with Codes C or R

  • Use the same claim number (if you're editing an existing returned invoice, the program will automatically use the same claim number and invoice details)
  • Include all the same data from the original claim with any required changes (a filed that is left blank will be considered a change)
  • Any new supporting text segment will be added and any supported text cross-reference segment will be automatically connected to the references claim

To "Reassess" your claim:

When you are viewing your invoice, click on the blue "Reassess" button. NOTE: you can only Reassess a claim that has been paid, whether it is "paid at zero" or "underpaid". A claim that has been rejected by Alberta Health cannot be Reassessed.

  • Use the same claim number (if you're editing an existing returned invoice, the program will automatically use the same claim number and invoice details)
  • You do not need a base claim segment, as you are not changing any data on your claim
  • Include a supporting text segment with the additional information you want considered, this will be added to the information provided earlier on the claim - this text segment will be available after clicking the Reassess button.

Once you have added more information or changed what is needed you can Submit/ Send your claim.
